As the title of the post, and the Blog name implies, I will try to make sure this is not just another lawyer's blog. However, being a lawyer, that very well may be difficult for me. Therefore, to try to keep my promise, I will frequently discuss, comment on, or simply mention in passing, various issues, topics, and subjects that have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the law or being a lawyer. Failing that, I will at a minimum try to entertain you with harrowing stories of the practice of law, where I valiantly fight for the forces of good (or evil) by typing furiously - much like I am now - and hoping, often in vain, that someone agrees with what I have typed, or at a minimum, appreciates my work - again, much like now.
I am an attorney in Miami-Dade County, Florida. Most of you only know it as Miami. Don't feel bad, generally only people from Florida know that Miami is only a city in Miami-Dade, and not actually the entire southern part of the State. In fact, (get set because I am about to really blow your mind) South Beach is not even in the City of Miami, not even a little bit. Rather, South Beach and the rest of Miami Beach are actually in the cities of Miami Beach and North Miami Beach.
Now that the geography lesson is done, I will give some more background on me. I practice law in Miami. I am in private practice, though that sometimes involves representing governmental agencies. To have an idea of what practicing law in Miami is like, just take Suits, Law & Order, My Cousin Vinny, The Practice, and Judge Judy, mix them all together, and voila, the practice of law in Miami.
As fun as it is, sometimes I still feel like Sisyphus, pushing my boulder everyday, just to see it fall back again, no matter what I do. Don't get me wrong, I like practicing law most of the time, I am pretty good at at, and I make an honest living. However, there are days when I could take it or leave it. On those days, I need my other interests, my hobbies (fishing, video games, hunting, and cycling) and most importantly of all, my Wife. I am happily married to a woman who is too good for me, and I know it. Thankfully, she doesn't.
With all that said, I look forward to this new adventure and welcome any who wish to accompany me. After all, I am not just another lawyer, and this is my Blog.
